A Unique Approach
A Unique Approach
The Center for Joint Replacement Surgery is a 6-bed orthopedic unit dedicated to caring for patients who have undergone hip or knee replacements. The center provides an environment that maximizes patient recovery through a team approach that focuses on patient care, patient education, increased family involvement, and a proven rehabilitation team.
Focused on Recovery
Possibly the most important feature of the Center for Joint Replacement Surgery is that it offers patients a reduced risk of infection. The center is a "clean" unit, meaning that none of our joint replacement patients have any kind of infection. And since the nurses on this unit care for only joint center patients, there is a greatly reduced chance of infection being transmitted.
State of the Art Care
Our highly skilled orthopedic surgeons perform the latest in joint replacement surgeries, including small incision, minimally invasive, and computer guided surgeries. In addition, our surgical team provides high quality, compassionate care to patients both before and after surgery.
During their stay at Lakeland Community Hospital Watervliet, patients work with physicians, nurses, and therapists on a treatment plan that is customized to meet individual needs. The entire team focuses on personal care aimed at getting recovery off to a quick and positive start.
This combination of state-of-the-art procedure paired with the intensive, focused post- operative care that patients receive result in a shortened hospital stay for joint replacement patients. The typical stay in the Center for Joint Replacement Surgery is 2-3 days.
Your Comfort is Our Concern
Joint replacement patients are healthy people who are having elective surgery. Our goal, then, is to create an atmosphere that meets their needs, while making them not feel as if they are in a hospital.
Our patients stay in private rooms spacious enough to easily maneuver with crutches and walkers. They are encouraged to wear their own clothing so they can be as comfortable as possible. In addition, the size and design of the rooms allow for overnight guests so patients can be surrounded by family members who are there to support them.
