Medical Student Education

Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph is a 250-bed hospital located in southwest Michigan on the shores of Lake Michigan and the lead hospital of Lakeland Health, the primary healthcare system serving patients from five surrounding counties.

Lakeland Medical Center has received multiple awards and national recognition in the areas of cardiovascular intervention, pulmonary medicine, clinical outcomes, and patient safety. These awards testify to the exceptional skills and expertise of our medical staff.

Our physicians are eager to share these skills with students and residents. The patient care experience is enhanced by our new, technologically advanced inpatient addition. The addition was constructed using evidencebased design which will provide an optimal environment for work, patient care and safety.

On-site lectures and educational facilities will combine with connectivity to Michigan State University’s vast medical education resources to create an excellent setting for learning.

Students are welcome to rotate through any of our available clerkships. Meals and housing are provided based on availability.
