News: Lakeland Achieves Primary Stroke Center Designation

Lakeland HealthCare, a leader in healthcare, offers advanced treatment by board-certified neurologist and
neurosurgeons. Neurological disorders comprise a wide and complex array of conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord, muscles, and nerves, as well as balance, speech, sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch.

Lakeland HealthCare team members offer treatment for a variety of neurological disorders, including neurovascular, spine care, and diseases such as Alzheimer's or Parkinson's.

Neurovascular
Neurovascular services at Lakeland include imaging tests such as CT Angiography, MR Angiography, X-ray Angiography, and Ultrasounography. IV-tPA treatment  for stroke patients, antihypertensive therapy, anticoagulant therapy, anti-inflammatory therapy, statin therapy, carotid endartectomy, carotid angioplasty, and aneurysm clipping are also offered.

Spine Care
Spine care services at Lakeland include imaging screenings such as X-Ray, 64-slice CT scanning , and MRI. Ballon Kyphoplasty for spinal fractures, minimally invasive surgery for lumbar spinal stenosis, minimally invasive fusion and microdiscectomy, and artificial disk replacement are also available.

Technology
We use the most advanced surgical navigation system available in order to perform delicate brain surgery with far more accuracy than was previously possible. The Styker navigational system  , a combination of computers, infrared cameras and wireless instruments, enables the surgeon to operate with greater precision. The allows for minimal incision, faster recovery and fewer complications for patients.

This next generation system microscope is fully integrated with a software program that directly links and incorporates prerecorded MRI and CT images and, as a result, the patient spends less time in the OR. Tumors, aneurysms and complications from head trauma become illuminated and magnified, enabling the surgeon to approach the lesion precisely and remove the tumor or obstruction safely without violating surrounding tissues, helping to preserve normal brain function.
