• Routine venipuncture
• Collect following an overnight (12-14 hour) fast
• Patient must not consume any alcohol for 24 hours prior to specimen being drawn
• Immediately after collection, gently invert tube 5-10 times
• Allow SST to clot 30 minutes
• Centrifuge 15 minutes
• Refrigerate
