Collection Instructions

• Routine venipuncture
• Immediately after collection, gently invert tube 5-10 times
• Place specimen on wet ice
• Clot 30 minutes
• Promptly centrifuge 15 minutes
• Immediately transfer serum to a plastic tube
• Freeze

Remarks

Patient Preparation:
For the 12 hours before specimen collection, do not take multivitamins or dietary supplements containing biotin (vitamin B7), which is commonly found in hair, skin, and nail supplements and multivitamins.
