Collection Instructions

Gently agitate first container during fluid collection
• Mix specimen
• Unfixed or fresh specimens must be received in the laboratory within one hour of collection. Quality of preparations will deteriorate after this
• Document source of body fluid on label and requisition
• Submit the entire amount of fluid collected

Transportation Instructions

• Maintain fixed specimens at room temperature
• Refrigerate unfixed portion of specimen
