Specimen Required

Container	Sterile container
Volume	1.0 cm3 biopsy specimen under sterile conditions
Collection Instructions	Fresh Tissue: Amnion, chorionic villi or fetal tissue • Collected by physician • Do NOT place in formalin • Place in separate containers with either tissue culture media or transport media and an antibiotic such as Pen/Strep or Gentamicin
Transportation Instructions	Room temperature • Tissue may be stored overnight in medium at 4°C
Stability	• Room Temperature: 3 days (beyond 3 days, specimen viability will be determined by Cytogenetics Lab) • Refrigerated: Tissue may be stored overnight in medium • Frozen: Unacceptable
Causes for Rejection	• Specimen frozen • Specimen placed in formalin • Specimen exposed to extreme temperatures
