Lakeland HealthCare has offered robotically-assisted surgery for years — over 815 cases performed to date. To better serve our patients, we recently acquired the newest model robot — the da Vinci® Xi™ Surgical System, making Lakeland the first in our region and second in the state of Michigan to have a da Vinci Xi System. Lakeland is the third health system in the country to have two.
The units have been placed at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph and Lakeland Hospital, Niles. The current da Vinci® Si™ Surgical System moved to the Center for Outpatient Services, St. Joseph, the only outpatient surgery center in the Midwest to have a surgical robot.
The da Vinci robot performs over 1 million safety checks per second and allows for a whole new level of safer, more complex surgical treatment.
Dr. Benjamin Stockton, Medical Director of the Lakeland Robotics program and the only da Vinci fellowship-trained Urologist in Michiana, leads a team of 7 robotically-trained surgeons.
As a 100 Top Hospital, you can trust that our quality is the highest rated in the nation.
