2. Pre-diabetes Class
This free class helps participants with higher-than normal blood sugar levels learn about lifestyle changes which may help avoid or delay the onset of diabetes. Pre-registration is required. Call (269) 556-2868 for more information, click here for the schedule.
3. Diabetes Education - Group Classes
Ongoing diabetes self-management education classes are offered in Niles, St. Joseph, and Watervliet. Courses are taught by registered nurses and registered dietitians, and include management options and meal-planning techniques designed to improve blood sugar control and reduce risk of complications. Individual instruction is also available. A physician’s referral is required for the classes and individual instruction. For more information, call (269) 556-2868.
4. MyPlate 101
This class will help you understand the importance of proper nutrition. Learn how to read labels and avoid portion distortion. Walk away with tips for making a great plate and eating better on a budget. Pre-registration is required by calling (269) 556-2808 or (866) 260-7544.
5. Fitness to the Core
Regular physical activity performed on most days of the week reduces the risk of developing or dying from some of the leading causes of illness in the United States. This class explores the different elements of fitness and its benefits on an individual's overall health. Practical ways to incorporate daily fitness and forming an individualized fitness plan will be discussed. Pre-registration is required by calling (269) 556-2808 or (866) 260-7544.
6. Because Every Heart Matters- Early Heart Attack Care
Did you know that heart attacks have beginnings? Early Heart Attack Care involves knowing the subtle danger signs of a heart attack and acting upon them immediately- before heart damage occurs. This class provides information about the early symptoms of heart attack for yourself and others, the importance of early treatment and calling 9-1-1, and ways to decrease the risk of heart disease.
