Do you have expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs taking up space in your medicine cabinet? Disposing of drugs the right way can protect people and the environment. Studies show medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse with the majority of abused prescription drugs being obtained from family and friends. In addition, the usual methods for disposing of unused medicines -- flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash -- both pose potential safety and health hazards. Lakeland offers a number of locations where you can safely dispose of unwanted medicines with no questions asked. Pills can be dropped off in their original containers or dumped all together in a bag.
