Spectrum Health Lakeland Earns National Recognition for Stroke Treatment

For the ninth consecutive year, Spectrum Health Lakeland has received the American Heart Association’s GoldPlus Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Quality Achievement Award with Honor Roll for their commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines.

Spectrum Health Lakeland Receives Ludwig Community Benefit Award

One of the honorees of the 2022 Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA) Ludwig Community Benefit Award was Spectrum Health Lakeland for the Center for Better Health in Benton Harbor, Michigan. The award is named in memory of Patric E. Ludwig, a former MHA president who championed investing in the community’s overall health and is presented to member organizations integrally involved in collaborative programs to improve the health and well-being of area residents.

Spectrum Health Lakeland Hospitals Earn Maternity Care Honors

The Economic Alliance for Michigan (EAM) has recognized Spectrum Health Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph and Spectrum Health Lakeland Hospital Niles as recipients of the Hospital Maternity Care Excellence Award. This is the third consecutive year Spectrum Health Lakeland Hospital Niles has received this designation. The awards are part of EAM’s Maternity Care Project. Created in 2018, the project goals are to decrease the state’s infant mortality rate, reduce the rate of unnecessary C-sections, and be an educational resource for new and expecting parents residing in Michigan. Spectrum Health Lakeland Achieves Cardiac Service Line of Excellence 

Corazon, Inc., a national leader in services for the cardiovascular specialty, has granted Service Line of Excellence to the percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), chest pain center, and open heart surgery programs at Spectrum Health Lakeland. 

Through a rigorous process, this designation proves that the cardiovascular program at Spectrum Health Lakeland has met or exceeded the requirements established by the Michigan Department of Community Health (MI DCH). The health system has also undergone detailed quarterly quality reviews to ensure outcomes and practices meet or exceed national and societal guidelines.

Spectrum Health Lakeland was named the only hospital in Michigan and northern Indiana to be named to the nation’s 2019 15 Top Health Systems by IBM Watson Health™. The study spotlights the best-performing health systems in the U.S., based on a balanced scorecard of publicly available clinical, operational and patient satisfaction metrics and data.

IBM Watson Health™ today published its 2019 100 Top Hospitals® study naming Lakeland Medical Center and Lakeland Hospital Niles among the top 100 hospitals in the U.S. based on overall organizational performance. The federal government recognizes the two hospitals as a single entity; thus, the recognition applies to both hospitals.
