New Friends Reach Out to Hospice at Home -

Earlier this year, we received an email from Jim Herter explaining that he was one of the founders of a new event that was designating 100% of net profits to Hospice at Home and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  The Indiana-Michigan Craft Beer Mayfest invited guests to “shake off winter” on May 9 at Toscana Park in Granger and promised great local food, excellent music, and fun to benefit charity.

The morning of May 9 started out gray, windy, and rainy, but hundreds of visitors came out to enjoy the music, food, craft beers and each other’s company.  Hospice at Home staff and volunteers attended the event and enjoyed making new friends and getting the word out about the programs and services we offer to the community.

Jim, Glenn, Tracy, and Barb, organizers of the event, recently stopped into Hospice at Home to present us with the proceeds from the benefit.  Their gift helps us to continue our work of caring for the community.

Jim shared that he had personally chosen Hospice at Home to benefit from the event because of how grateful he is of the care we gave his wife before her death in December of 2014.  He also mentioned how much he appreciated the weekly notices from Hospice at Home in regards to memorial donations made in her name.  Jim said, “It is my honor to continue to give to such a caring and benevolent organization; your staff are angels.”
