Lory’s Place Awarded Gift from Old National Bank
Mar 3, 2014

(ST. JOSEPH) – Lory’s Place, the grief healing and education center of Hospice at Home, a Lakeland Health Affiliate, was awarded $1,000 through the “Choose Your Charity New Year’s Giveaway” by the Old National Bank Banking Center at 3125 Cleveland Avenue in St. Joseph.

During the January campaign, community members age 18 or older were invited to cast their vote for their favorite charity at an Old National Bank banking center. Twenty-four charities in southwest Michigan and northern Indiana each received $1,000.

“Lory’s Place is honored to have been selected to receive the $1,000 gift and to have the valued support of Old National Bank,” said Lisa Bartoszek, Director of Bereavement and Lory’s Place. “They are sincerely committed to strengthening the communities they serve through programs like ‘Choose Your Charity New Year’s Giveaway.’”

Old National Bancorp, based in Evansville, Indiana, provided over $3 million in grants and sponsorships to approximately 1,600 community initiatives during 2013.

About Lory’s Place
Statistics have shown that one out of eight children will lose a parent before the age of 18. Many times, these children have no outlet for their grief, and do not know how to express their feelings. Lory's Place was created to help children and their families work through their grief so they can become capable, healthy, and optimistic about the future.

Since opening on November 15, 2004, thousands of children from Allegan, Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties in Michigan, as well as from northern Indiana, have taken the courageous step of accessing the bereavement resource services of Lory’s Place. With professional bereavement staff and trained volunteers, Lory’s Place provides regularly scheduled age-appropriate support group sessions that allow children and adults to interact with peers who have suffered similar loss. There is no charge for the services that Lory’s Place provides.
