Lakeland Community Hospital has undergone a three-year, $20 million
transformation to enhance our ability to provide southwest Michigan with
high-quality, full-service health care. Located on the banks of the St .Joseph
river, the 89-bed community hospital serves Niles and the surrounding
communities with primary and specialty care services in a modern and healing
environment.
Lakeland is pleased to offer a surprising array of leading-edge technologies,
both on the hospital’s campus and conveniently located throughout the Niles

The services available at Lakeland Community Hospital
include:
A Place for Outpatients 
All of the outpatient services available at
Lakeland Community Hospital have been consolidated and are
now located in one easily
accessible space. Our state-of-the-art diagnostic and imaging services—including
CT imaging capabilities and our area’s only full-field digital mammography
equipment—along with laboratory and cardiac screenings, are now grouped together
near our new front entrance. The result is greater convenience in outpatient
services, creating a visit that recognizes the importance of the patient’s
time.
Improved Patient Experiences
The renovations at Lakeland Community Hospital have created
a more attractive, convenient place for patients and visitors. Some of our new
amenities include:
- Remodeled patient rooms that offer increased privacy
- Family gathering areas
- Family kitchens where patients’ visitors can dine
close by
- Fresh cookies baked daily in those kitchens for
visitors

The Planetree Model of Care
Lakeland Community Hospital was one
of the first hospitals in the state of Michigan to provide the Planetree
model of care. Two years ago there were 55 hospitals in the country using the
Planetree approach. Today, there are a hundred. Planetree specializes in
humanizing the health care experience for patients and their families. As a
non-profit membership organization, Planetree-affiliated hospitals strive to
provide patient-centered care in a life-enhancing and healing environment.
