On Friday, September 15, Julie Elliott, Manager of Volunteer Services, was announced as the President of the Michigan Healthcare Volunteer Resource Professionals (MHVRP) state board of directors. Julie will serve as President of the MHVRP board for the 2017-2018 year.  She has been a member of MHVRP for
16 years and has previously served on the board as Education Co-Chair, Education Chair and President-Elect.

MHVRP is a non-profit corporation with the purpose of promoting the professional development of its membership and advancing the quality of volunteer services management in the healthcare institutions in the state of Michigan.

MHVRP has a reputation as an assertive, professional and progressive council with strong leadership, dedicated board members and involved, caring members who represent the total healthcare volunteer community. MHVRP also works closely with the Michigan Health & Hospital Association to develop robust volunteer programs and lifelong healthcare volunteers. For more information, visit www.mhvrp.org.

The Veggie Van™, a mobile farmers market, served 13 counties throughout Michigan this year, ensuring that free fruits and vegetables were available to individuals who otherwise had limited access. The program, a joint effort of Corewell Health™ and the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids, launched in 2018 to combat food insecurity and will continue for a sixth consecutive year in spring 2024. Through their partnership, 46,466 free pieces of produce were distributed to Michigan families in 2023.
