(ST. JOSEPH) – Lakeland Health recently welcomed Eric Erickson, DO, to its medical staff. Dr. Erickson will serve as Medical Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health at Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph.
Prior to relocating to southwest Michigan, Dr. Erickson provided hospital and office-based patient care at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services in Grand Rapids and Mercy Health in Muskegon. Dr. Erickson earned his medical degree from Des Moines University in Iowa and completed a psychiatry residency at the University of Illinois and Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago.
He is currently a member of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and the American Board of Addiction Medicine. His years of clinical experience and service in several professional hospital committees and medical director roles has shaped his advocacy for achieving quality and compassionate care for individuals with mental health needs.
The Behavioral Health program at Lakeland works with other departments, health professionals, and ancillary services in coordinating and improving the care we provide to our patients. We have an established partnership with Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services that provides patients access to mental health resources from their Grand Rapids facility.
Individuals in acute psychiatric crisis are in urgent need of a safe environment, a structured and supportive therapeutic setting, and intensive therapeutic intervention. Lakeland’s Behavioral Health services are provided to adults, age 18 and older. For more information, call (269) 983-8316
