Recharge, Refresh, and Rejuvenate Your Mind This Spring!

by Jessica Springer | Apr 18, 2016

Walking OutdoorsSpring has arrived in southwest Michigan, which allows us to awaken from winter hibernation and explore the outdoors. Spring is the perfect time to reboot and reinvent our lives, and imagine new possibilities when it comes to our environment, health, and relationships.

Lynne Murphy, Manager of the Employee Assistance Program at Lakeland Health, shares three ways you can re-invent your world this spring:

  1. Change Your Attitude: Your attitude is a reflection of how you handle everyday challenges or stressors. Be positive, and learn to let go of unresolved past issues that are holding you back from being happy. Rather, focus your efforts on accomplishing or completing a task or project that you’ve been putting off. Choose to be happy and stop limiting yourself from achieving your dreams.
  2. Clear Your Mind: Mental health is just as important as diet and exercise. Improve your mental health and promote relaxation by journaling, or practicing meditation or yoga. Even walking outside, breathing in fresh air, and appreciating nature will help ease your mind, and allow you to find inner peace and harmony.
  3. Spring Cleaning: Look at the environment around you, including your home and office. Does it make you feel at ease or even at peace? Does your living and workspace allow you to be productive? Or do you feel stressed just looking around at all of the clutter? Now is the time to go through your belongings and donate or sell any items that haven’t been used or worn in the past two years. In the office, go through files, and shred or toss expired papers.
