Lakeland Included on National Most Wired™ List
Lakeland Health was recently included on the nation’s
HealthCare’s Most Wired™ list by the American Hospital
Association (AHA) and The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME). The designation highlights the organization’s use of the electronic health record to
improve health, improve healthcare, and lower costs.
The 2015 Most Wired™ Survey and Benchmarking Study is
a leading industry barometer measuring information
technology (IT) use and adoption among hospitals
nationwide. The survey of more than 741 participants,
representing more than 2,213 hospitals, examined how organizations are leveraging IT to improve network security, identity management, access control, threat assessment,
penetration testing, and encryption.
“Being included on the Most Wired list is another indication that Lakeland met the goals we set four years ago at the
beginning of our journey toward an electronic health
record—improving healthcare, saving lives, and lowering costs for our community,” said Loren B. Hamel, MD,
President and CEO, Lakeland Health. “We’re honored to
be recognized for our efforts, and grateful to all the team
members who made an electronic health record possible.”
“There is also a significant focus on how Most Wired
organizations collect, analyze, and respond to data. It is very clear that making healthcare safer, more timely, effective, efficient, and patient centered requires a deep understanding of data and how to best use it. Using that data effectively
can ensure our patients move through their healthcare
experience with fewer delays. It can help ensure that
supplies are in the right place at exactly the right time.
It can help ensure the charges for those services are
accurate and are covered by health plans. It can also
allow a patient access to their own health information
when and where they choose.”
“All of those things are important to delivering exemplary care and the reason Lakeland’s electronic health record
exists,” concluded Dr. Hamel.
