(ST. JOSEPH) – For the second consecutive year, Becker’s Hospital Review, a monthly business and legal publication covering hospitals and health systems, has selected Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph, for its 2015 ranking of “100 Great Community Hospitals” in the United States. Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph, was one of four hospitals chosen in Michigan for this recognition.
The Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team selected hospitals for inclusion based on various rankings and awards, including those from iVantage Health Analytics, Truven Health Analytics, Healthgrades, and CareChex. The hospitals featured on this list have fewer than 550 beds, and many are the only hospital in their community.
Lakeland Medical Center, St. Joseph, is a 272-bed facility that has served southwest Michigan residents for more than 100 years. The hospital, part of Lakeland Health, has received national recognition for patient care, including the “100 Top Hospitals” listing by Truven Health Analytics in 2013 and with the Governor’s Award for Excellence for Outstanding Clinical Achievement in acute care in 2014. Most recently, Lakeland earned the Davies Award from the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) for improving healthcare quality outcomes using information technology, an honor received by three or fewer organizations each year.
“What makes the Becker’s Hospital Review list unique is that it uses multiple metrics for a more objective look at a hospital’s clinical quality, safety, patient satisfaction, and value,” said Loren B. Hamel, MD
, President and CEO, Lakeland Health. “We’re proud of our entire team for helping us achieve this honor, and we will continue to work toward delivering perfect care to our friends and neighbors.”
