It is thrilling to be a part of the Lakeland Health family during such an exciting time in the history of this local jewel. As Chair of the Lakeland Health Foundations Board of Directors, I recently heard from Lakeland President & CEO Loren Hamel about the planned 260,000 square foot expansion to the main campus. Talk about exciting.
“Every decision made in regards to this project has been with our patients, team members, and community in mind and how we can provide them with the best overall experience possible,” said Hamel. “Our hope is that through modernizations and the latest technology we will be able to save more lives, restore health to more patients, and provide the quality health care our community needs so that they can remain close to home.”
Plans for the five floor expansion feature new state-of-the-art medical and surgical suites, a short stay unit, imaging centers, an intensive care unit, a heart center, and education and community rooms. A new main entrance and center corridor to the facility will focus on visitor amenities, along with clear and easy navigation throughout the building. Visitor areas will focus on healthy living and health-based outreach programs.
I believe in the mission of Lakeland Health: to enhance health and serve our community. I have trusted and will continue to trust that Lakeland will be good a steward of my investment to positively transform healthcare options and delivery. I firmly believe that as Lakeland grows, our community becomes stronger and healthier. Lakeland remains the largest employer in Berrien County, and with this new $160 million medical facility expansion, we will continue to attract top-tier talent to the area.
My gift says that I believe in the work Lakeland is doing and I have a stake in our shared success. If you join me in this campaign, our collective generosity will have a ripple effect on others, building confidence in our community and further strengthening the viability of Lakeland Health in our region.
