Stevensville Pediatric Team

Southwestern Medical Clinic, Stevensville Pediatrics

Stevensville peds team webInjury Care

We can take care of many injuries for you here at the Stevensville pediatrics office. We repair lacerations, splint sprained or broken fingers, apply casts for some wrist fractures, and remove items such as splinters stuck in the skin, or objects placed into the ears or nose. We also have X-ray services on site for orthopedic injuries.

Routine procedures

We perform several routine in-office procedures, such as treating warts with liquid nitrogen, draining abscesses, and ear wax removal.

Ear piercing

Several of the providers at the Stevensville practice perform ear piercings to children 2 months and older in a safe, hygienic manner. It can be calming for the patient to have a provider they are familiar with perform this procedure.

Note: Ear piercings are not covered by insurance.

Sports Physicals

Don't be left behind when it's time to hit the field or court.  We are happy to offer sports physicals for your child as long as they have had a comprehensive physical examination in the past 12 months. The state of Michigan requires all sports physicals be performed after April 15. If your child requires an annual sports physical, please schedule their examination by late spring or summer. Summertime is typically a busy time for physicals at our practice.

ADHD Management

ADHD (attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder) is a neurological disorder that affects a child’s ability to regulate attention and perform in a classroom setting. ADHD can also affect daily tasks at home, and social interactions. Diagnosis of this problem usually involves a multidisciplinary approach involving educational and psychological testing. ADHD can be caused by a combination of factors, including genetic, biologic, and environmental influences.

Therapy may involve a variety of interventions, including: Working with your child's school, tutors, educational consultants, therapy, and stimulant medications.

Autism Spectrum Disorder

Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are a group of related brain-based disorders that affect a child’s behavior, communication, and social skills.

Data indicates the best prognosis for treatment is early and intensive intervention. Signs of autism may appear at about 15 months of age. We perform screening using the MCHAT tool at 18 months and also at the 2 year appointment if necessary. We will discuss the results with you during the visit.
