The Dentist is In

Story Shared by Deanna Horrell, Hospice at Home Massage Therapist:

“We received a phone call at home on a Saturday evening from a fellow employee who recalled my husband David, was a dentist. A Hospice patient was suffering from a broken tooth and was in a great deal of pain.  

“My husband immediately agreed to go to the patient, making a house call on a Sunday.  The patient was at his home in Buchanan, 40 minutes away.  My husband headed to the patient’s home, little black bag in hand, and ready to do an extraction if needed.  

“My husband discovered the patient actually had four broken teeth.  After relieving the patients pain, he made the recommendation to the family that the patient be taken to an oral surgeon who would be better equipped, in an office setting, to take care of the patient’s needs.  The family was elated that a dentist would take time away from his weekend and makes a house call on a Sunday, at no charge to them.”
