May 24, 2018 Share

(ST. JOSEPH) – On Saturday, May 19, more than 1,248 registrants, 40 volunteers, and 57 sponsors participated in the 14th Annual Run, Walk, and Rock presented by the McLoughlin Family Foundation for Lory’s Place, the grief healing and education center of Caring Circle, a Lakeland Health Affiliate.

Through donations and participation, this year’s event set a new record, raising more than $60,000 to support unique bereavement programs and services for all who are grieving, regardless of their financial circumstances. Last year, Lory’s Place provided bereavement services to over 3,400 children and adults, including bereavement programs in over 50 area schools.

“We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, volunteers and community partners who have made this event a success every year,” said Stephanie Kohler, Director of Lory’s Place. “Their participation ensures Lory's Place can continue to meet the needs of those who are grieving, as well as offer grief education opportunities, at no charge.”

In the 5K run portion of the event, William Cadwell of South Haven took overall top honors with a time of 16:22. For the overall women’s division of the 5K run, Margarita Soroka-Gordon of Denver, Colorado was in first place with a time of 21:19. In the 5K walk event, Steve Winkler of St. Joseph won overall top honors with a time of 33:19, and Nada Kramp of Stevensville came in first place for the women at 33:58.
