Getting Started
Before you begin..... Consider your schedule and how much free time you are willing to devote to volunteering. Then decide on what areas interest you.
Next..... Review our extensive list of Volunteer Opportunities at the facility of choice and select one or more jobs that you would like to know more about. Then fill in the information requested on the form.
The Follow-through..... Schedule an in-person interview with the Volunteer Supervisor. You will be required to fill out an application and complete a volunteer orientation. The orientation includes information on infection control, fire safety, mission and structure of the organization, and security. You may find these educational programs quite informative.
The Rewards of Volunteering
Volunteers can make people’s dreams a reality by getting more things done with less red tape and lower funding. In a community, volunteering brings people together for a common cause and provides the participants with a true opportunity to make a difference.
But volunteering not only helps others...it helps you! Volunteering is fun and rewarding. Meet new people, learn new skills and enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done.
All of our volunteers receive both formal and informal recognition, and celebrate their successes in many ways.
Learning is another benefit. To help you build skills as a volunteer you will be invited to special presentations by well-known speakers as well as in-house educational programs. We also will gladly send a letter of recommendation to your employer, school or college.
Scholarship Program
If you're already a volunteer, you may qualify for a Scholarship. To apply, print and fill in this form, and return it before March 31th of the year you're applying for. For more information and scholarship criteria, click here.
