What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a minimally invasive cosmetic formula used to add volume, fill in wrinkles, and change the contours of the face. They are among the most popular aesthetic procedure to date due to their immediate results, lack of downtime, and low risk of complications.

Most dermal fillers are made with hyaluronic acid, a naturally-occurring substance that attracts and binds water under the skin, resulting in youthful volume.

At Stonegate Plastic Surgery, we offer a number of Juvéderm dermal fillers, including:

  • Juvéderm Voluma® XC- adds volume to correct age-related volume loss in the cheeks to help create a more youthful appearance. Results can last up to two years in the cheek area.
  • Juvéderm® Ultra XC- Adds fullness and plumps thin lips. Results can last up to one year.
  • Juvéderm Volbella™ XC- Adds subtle volume to the lips and smooths vertical lip lines. Results can last up to one year.
  • Juvéderm® XC- Smooths moderate to severe laugh lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. Results can last up to one year.
  • Juvéderm Vollure ™ XC- Softens moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles to create a smoother appearance. Results can last up to 18 months.

Why Choose Dermal Fillers? (candidacy, uses, associated procedures, etc.)

Individuals with deep lines around their nose or mouth, would like to change the contours of their face, or wish their lips were plumper can often benefit from dermal fillers. Botox® injections are often done along with dermal filler treatments to further improve results.

Your Dermal Filler Procedure

During your dermal filler treatment, a topical numbing cream can be applied to the treatment area to ensure your comfort. Then, a small, thin syringe is used to inject the filler into the targeted areas. Treatment is quick, and usually only takes about 15 minutes to complete.
There is no downtime required following dermal filler injections.

How Can I Maintain My Results?

Following your dermal filler treatment, minimal swelling and bruising may occur at the injection site. However, these side effects usually dissipate within a week. It is advised that patents avoid intense physical activity, consumption of alcohol, and extended exposure to the sun or heat for 24 hours after treatment to ensure optimal results.

In order to maintain results, return to our office after the allotted time for touch-up treatments.
