(ST. JOSEPH) – Two new members recently joined the Board of the Lakeland Health Foundation, Niles.

Michael Westfall, DO, FACEP, has been a member of the medical staff of Lakeland HealthCare for 10 years. In addition to serving as the Medical Director of the Emergency Department at Lakeland Hospital, Niles, Dr. Westfall is the Quality Director of Emergency Medicine and played a vital role in the implementation of Lakeland’s electronic health records system as Medical Director of Information Technology.

Dr. Westfall earned his Doctoral degree in Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in Emergency and Internal Medicine at the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University in Illinois. He currently serves on the board for PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) of Southwest Michigan and is active in many events and activities where his children are involved. A southwest Michigan native, Dr. Westfall lives in Stevensville with his wife Candice and their four children.

A Berrien Springs High School graduate, Jose Ontiveros earned the Bachelor of Business Administration degree with additional certification in Human Resources from Ferris State University in Big Rapids. He has more than eight years of experience working in retail, and spent the last two years working as a Branch Manager for Honor Credit Union.

Mr. Ontiveros is passionate about supporting the Niles community and is involved in several local organizations, including the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl-a-Thon, Junior Achievement, the Niles Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce Finance Committee, the Niles Noon Optimist Club, and United Way of Southwest Michigan. Mr. Ontiveros and his wife, Whitney, live in Niles with their three children.

“Both Dr. Westfall and Jose have a long history of helping to make our community a better place,” said David Burghart, President of the Lakeland Health Foundations and Vice President of Philanthropy, Lakeland HealthCare. “They will be ideal additions to our Board as we continue to work to improve and enhance medical care for southwest Michigan residents.”
