Spreading the Cheer with Christmas in June Food Drive
Apr 24, 2019 Share

Help us spread the cheer all year! While winter usually means fully-stocked food pantries across the county, spring and summer see a drastic decrease in food donations which can impact low-income families. To provide better access to food during these times, United Way of Southwest Michigan is teaming up with area organizations to stock the shelves of 34 local food pantries during the Christmas in June event.

In support, Spectrum Health Lakeland will be collecting food and basic household items between Tuesday, April 30 and Tuesday, June 11 for the drive.

If you would like to participate, please consider donating any of these items: whole grain cereal, granola bars, canned meat, canned fish, canned veggies, canned beans, canned fruit (in own juice or light syrup), low sodium soup, stews, sauces, whole grain pasta, peanut butter, jelly, condiments, light oil, salt, sugar, wheat flour, pancake mix, toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, laundry soap, hand soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, diapers, Lysol wipes, chapstick, shampoo (unscented), conditioner (unscented), deodorant (unscented), or body wash (unscented).

Please drop off your donations at the collection box in one of these locations:

  • Center for Outpatient Services, St. Joseph
  • Lakeland at Meadowbrook
  • Lakeland Hospital Niles
  • Lakeland Hospital Watervliet
  • Lakeland Medical Center
  • Lakeland Inpatient Rehabilitation, Watervliet

If each team member brought one or two items, Lakeland could show our support and help make an incredible difference for families in need of food assistance.
