Integral to our mission is to provide quality, structured postgraduate residency programs that foster residents’ professional and personal development, while assuring high quality patient care. We currently offer residency training positions in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, and Internal Medicine. Lakeland is also a base hospital for Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine.
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine (AACOM) entered into an agreement to pursue a single, unified accreditation system for graduate medical education programs. Following the inception of this single accreditation system between the allopathic and the osteopathic medical communities, Lakeland Health received initial accreditation by the ACGME in July 2015 and was granted continued accreditation in October 2016. Our Emergency Medicine Residency Program received ACGME initial accreditation in April 2016 and our Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Residency Programs received ACGME initial accreditation effective July 1, 2016. These programs are now dually accredited by the ACGME and the AOA.
Lakeland Health is an equal opportunity employer and will not discriminate against any candidate for residency training on the basis of sex, race, age, religion, color, national origin, disability, or veteran status. We will consider sponsoring visas (H-1B or J-1) for highly qualified candidates.
