Our volunteers assist in a wide variety of service areas. The list below are some of our most common positions for volunteers. If there is an activity not shown that you are interested in or you have questions, please let us know!
Description: Phone or visit with loved ones after the death of a patient.
Requirements: Must be a good listener, complete Hospice and Bereavement training, and have reliable transportation.
Description: Visit an assigned patient weekly or bi-weekly in their care facility or nursing home. This may involve reading, playing games, helping a patient write letters to family and friends or simply talking to a patient about their life.
Requirements: Good communication skills are very important. Must complete the Hospice orientation and training program.
Description: Assist with a variety of craft projects; create and assemble care packages, cards, stuffed animals, etc.
Requirements: Must be friendly, open to instruction, and creative.
Fundraising & Special Projects
Description: Help with bake sales, create and develop fundraisers and other special projects.
Requirements: Willingness to learn new things and make new friends!
Description: Help with light chores, do dishes, plant flowers, rake, shovel snow, etc.
Requirements: Have a positive and personable attitude and ability to complete assigned tasks. Must complete the Hospice orientation and training program.
Description: Help with clerical tasks. Duties may include assembling admission packets, sending out monthly newsletters, typing, making copies, etc.
Requirements: Must be organized, able to read and write, and have knowledge of WordPerfect, Microsoft Word and Excel.
Description: Visit patients' homes, care facility or nursing home, with your pet.
Requirements: Pets must be up-to-date on all their shots, be CGC certified, friendly and willing to travel. Volunteers must complete the Hospice orientation and training program.
Description: Relieve caregivers so they can run errands, sleep, or just get out for a while. Volunteers will visit patients' in their home to visit and keep them company while their caregiver is taking a break. You will not be asked to provide care for the patient unless you are trained.

Description: Shop, run to the drug store, post office, deliver flowers, etc.
Requirements: Must have a friendly and accommodating personality and be able to travel to various locations.
Description: Volunteer Chaplains to assist our hospital Chaplain with patient visits.
Requirements: Must have strong communication skills and exceptional customer service. Hospice Chaplaincy training is required.
